Mali to Burkina Faso overland

Crossing the border from Mali to Burkina Faso was comparatively easy, with us parting with only 1,000 CFAs each as a processing fee, one clip-on koala bear and three Australian flag stickers. Apparently the border guards wanted to see if I could be thrown into the deal from looking at my passport photo alone – they must’ve been delusional – have you seen my passport photo?!

The most exciting part of this leg of the trip for the boys was:

A.      Making a cricket bat, and

B.      When we had to change the wheel nuts on the tyre, though one broke once they’d finished changing two of them, and they had to start all over again.
