Bobo-Dioulasso

Bobo – awesome name for Burkina Faso’s 2nd largest town for starters. But also the street food was really good and really cheap – Andrea got some rice with meat and I just had noodles for 50 CFA (about 10 cents per bowl!)
A group of us got a local to show us around the mosque

and the local village where we sampled millet beer (after, and prior to, fermentation),

saw the sacrificial mound where you can go to if you want babies, for example,
and had an impromptu music and dance session with the locals at a souvenir shop where local kids were dancing and poking their tongues out at us.

Guber taught one of them the Haka and it was hilarious watching the little boy re-enact it, particularly with the bit where you poke out your tongue! Will try to upload a video soon.
Of course we also had to experience the local nightlife in Bobo. Zach got offered to be shown around by a Malian truck driver staying at our campsite and jumped at the chance, as did a few of us who he in turn asked. We started off at Les Bambous,
where a local group were playing drums and getting some of our group to give it a go. The drummer was happy with Dom’s efforts
but when Garrett started to play he kept saying ‘Non, non, non!!!’ The sound wasn’t to his liking! Zach got his own chance to perform at a small jazz bar
down a side street filled with little bars and street meat. He was invited to play the guitar but instead managed to change it to the drums where he pulled off an acceptable performance much to the band’s amusement! Our last stop was a local nightclub where we had a dance to African tunes, before heading home.
