Cameroon roads

Boy were we prepared for some bad roads. In fact, the boys were even praying for some bad roads with massive potholes so they could dig the truck out of them.
Many of us bought new shoes that we were prepared to wreck for the occasion – mine were plastic and covered in 100 dollar bills – the ultimate in tackiness. But alas, they didn’t even get worn.
The dirt roads were slightly rough

but as it was the dry season, they really weren’t so bad. You could still imagine how they’d become impassable in the wet season, however, and even swallow an entire truck!
The most excitement we got was blowing a tire.
The guys got absolutely filthy changing it and loved every minute of it.

We also all got involved in laying down stones and digging out a road to our bush camp.
But other than that, the ride was just a tad bumpy and dusty – disappointing for the boys but we ended that section of the road on a high by washing the dust off with a swim in a river and floating down some shallow rapids.
