Essaouira

The pace slowed down again at Essaouira, where we strolled around leisurely, disturbed only by offers for camel or horse rides along the beach.

Instead of the rides, I collected rubbish and many others helped out. We found some plastic bags that had been thrown away that were perfect to collect it all in. The beach was full of litter and we collected three plastic bags full of junk such as disposable razor blades, old batteries, plastic bottles and tin cans.

I visited the Scala du Port

and the Scala du Kasbah.

I had fresh orange juice though here it’s 5 dirhams instead of 4. Shaun suggested I make mine myself, which the orange juice squeezer happily agreed to.

The seafood here is amazing. On the first day, Lee and I had fresh calamari at a seaside grill.

And on the second day a bunch of us picked out some fresh fish, calamari and prawns at the fish souq and had it cooked and served at a stall in the middle of it.

The shopping here was also quite varied with ‘rub on with water’ lipstick in a pot,

roots to get fatter (or thinner),

turbo Viagra,

and a pet chameleon (this time not for sale).
